BENOG WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Set amidst heart throbbing beauties of nature and pine covered hill terrains, Benog wildlife sanctuary is a heavenly destination for the wildlife lovers and adventure seekers. The sanctuary is endowed with a rich variety of both flora and fauna. A huge variety of exotic and endangered species of animals and birds are found here. It is the only place in the state where the extinct Mountain Quail and red billed blue magpie was seen. Some of the major animals housing the sanctuary are leopard, panther, Himalayan goat, bear and deer. The Himalayan goat or Ghurul is the flagship species of Uttaranchal. Besides, a good variety of medicinal plants and other plant communities are also common in the forest.
