TEMPLES IN MUSSOORIE
The fascinating city of Mussoorie is adorned with many splendid temples that reflect the artistic architecture and culture of the region. Some of the famous temples in the town are-
Nag Devta Temple- This is one of the most ancient temples located at a distance of 6 km from the main city at Cart Mackenjie Road. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and as you reach to the temple, you will get amazed with the breathtaking view of Doon Valley and surroundings.
Bhadraj Temple- This temple is located 15 km west of Mussoorie and is dedicated to Lord Balbhadra, brother of Lord Krishna. From the temple top, one can see the majestic views of Doon Valley and towering hill ranges of Chakrata.
Surkhanda Devi Temple- This temple is located at Kaddukhal village at a distance of about 40 km from Mussoorie. It is situated at a height of 3030 meters above sea level.
Jwalaji Temple- Situated at an altitude of 2104 m, this temple is 9 km from Mussoorie. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga and lies at the top of Benog Hill. Enveloped by dense forests and towering peaks, one can experience the overwhelming sights of Doon and Yamuna Valley while climbing at the temple premises.
Parkasheshwar Temple- Located at a distance of about 20 km from Mussoorie, this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is a popular religious spot to be witnessed on the route to Dehradun.
